Mrs. Miller
Welcome to James L. Day Middle School. I am thrilled and honored to be the Principal of such an outstanding school. I am fortunate to be joining a passionate staff that is dedicated to meeting the needs of middle school students. Before becoming the Principal of Day Middle School, I was a teacher and an Assistant Principal. I earned my Bachelor’s degree and my teaching credential from California State University San Marcos. For the next eight years, I was a 6th grade teacher in the Menifee Union School district. I truly enjoyed teaching middle school students and helping them develop academically, socially, and emotionally. I went on to attend California State University San Bernardino to earn my Master’s degree in Educational Administration. After completing my Master’s degree, I came to Temecula Unified School District in 2006. For the first two years in TVUSD, I was as an Assistant Principal at both James L. Day Middle School and Margarita Middle School in a split position. The following two years, I was an Assistant Principal at Temecula Valley High School, which gave me the opportunity to see what middle school students need in order to be prepared for high school.
I was raised in Chicago, Illinois and moved to California in 1991. I lived in the San Diego area and moved to Temecula in 2003. I live in Temecula with my husband and my very spoiled yellow lab. My daughter graduated last year from Chaparral High School and is off to college at California State University San Marcos as a freshman this year.
I enjoy working with the wonderful, students, parents, and staff in TVUSD. At Day Middle School, the office staff is welcoming; students are ready to learn; teachers are passionate and work hard at providing high quality instruction; and parents are involved in their child’s progress. I look forward to meeting all of you in the Day Middle School community. Working together, we can guide students in being successful in the middle school years and being prepared for their next experiences.
Mr. Cole
I am honored to be the new Assistant Principal of such an exceptional middle school. My desire is to humbly lead, serve and collaborate with the Day Middle School staff, students, and parents to continue to improve teacher instruction and set high expectations for student learning. I am convinced that our partnership is vital as we continue to create and sustain a school community that is built on rigorous academics, relevant learning and is supportive. As we cultivate the academic skills and knowledge of our students, we must not forget to nurture and mold their lives, talents and dreams to help them grow into young men and women of character.
I have been married to my amazing wife for 15 years and have been blessed with six wonderful children (ages 3-11). In 1992, I moved from Illinois, to Southern California to attend BIOLA University. In 1996, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and then began my teaching career. In 2007, I completed my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Chapman University. Before becoming the Assistant Principal of Day Middle School, I was an Activities Director, and taught Social Sciences for 5 years at the middle school level and six years at the high school level. During the last four years I was an Assistant Principal at Buckingham Charter High School and Will C. Wood High School in Vacaville, California.
I have appreciated the warm welcome from the Day Middle School staff, students and parents. I look forward to working with and meeting you and your children.
