Promotion Requirements

 

Students who meet all of the following criteria shall be promoted when they:

8th grade: 1)  Pass language arts and math in the second semester
 

2)  Make up second semester F’s in language arts and/or math by passing Summer School (if offered)

 

6th/7th grade: 1)  Pass language arts and math in the second semester
  2)  Make up second semester F’s in language arts and/or math by passing Summer School (if offered)

 

In addition, promotion requirements from middle school to high school will be a combination of classroom grades and student performance on district and standards based assessments. Counselors will be closely monitoring all students’ academic progress and informing parents if their child is at risk of not being promoted. Parents are encouraged to monitor daily as well as semester progress and contact the classroom teacher or counselor with questions or concerns.  Students will be able to participate in end of the year activities based on their adherence to academic and behavioral requirements.  Students who fall below a 2.0 GPA, have an F in language arts or math, or have acquired excessive discipline points will be excluded from the end of the year activities.  See Discipline Policy for more information.
